Who Is A Mentee?

Mentee is an aspiring individual seeking guidance from experienced mentors to fuel and accelerate their growth. Mentee seeks to fuel their growth, whether students, early-career professionals, or those transitioning careers. They actively engage with experienced mentors, seeking guidance, feedback, and encouragement to overcome challenges and achieve their goals. Mentees play a crucial role in actively applying knowledge to reach their full potential.

  • What can I expect from my mentor?

    • Your mentor can offer guidance, support, and encouragement as you navigate your career path or personal development goals.

    • They can share insights based on their own experience and knowledge.

    • They can help you brainstorm ideas, identify resources, and develop action plans.

    • They can be a sounding board for your thoughts and concerns.

  • What are my responsibilities as a mentee?

    • Commit to a minimum 3-month mentorship journey and establish frequency and meeting platform (Google Meet or WhatsApp) with your mentor.

    • Compile a comprehensive list of all your career and personal goals and objectives for the initial meeting.

    • Collaborate with your mentor to establish clear goals and objectives for your mentoring journey. 

    • Come prepared to meetings with specific topics or questions to discuss.

    • Be open to feedback and willing to learn.

    • Take initiative and be proactive in achieving your goals.

    • Be respectful of your mentor's time and expertise.

  • How often will we meet? 

    • The frequency of meetings is flexible and depends on your needs and your mentor's schedule. 

    • Standard meeting intervals include once-a-week, bi-weekly, or monthlyRecommend once a week to ensure continuity. 

    • Duration for each meeting - ranges from 30-45 minutes 

  • How long will the mentorship program last?​

    • A minimum of 3 months is required to build a solid foundation and achieve positive results.  Discuss this with your program coordinator or mentor in the initial meeting.

    • IBIC values long-term relationships, and your mentorships can be extended if requested.

  • What are the confidentiality expectations?

    • All discussions with your mentor will be confidential unless you give explicit permission to share specific information.

  • How should I communicate with my mentor?

    • All interactions are in REMOTE mode.
    • Discuss your preferred communication tool with your mentor during your initial meeting.

    • You can use one or more preferred communication tools, including Google Meet or WhatsApp.

    • ​Be aware and considerate of time zone differences.

  • How can I refer someone to IBIC as a mentee or a mentor?​​​

    • Referrals are the primary pathway to joining the IBIC tribe.
